Shànghăi 2024 May 29

Flew into Shànghăi, PRC from Seattle, USA direct on Delta Air Lines after a week on the road.

Ran the trip both to attend my best friend Ricky’s wedding, but also to “dry run” test the feasibility of living in, and commuting to/from, China long-term. Would cycle back and forth between the RRC and the USA on a 14-day rotation—living in China, but working in the USA.

I used to live in China years ago up north of the country in Liáoníng province. I miss is all the time. China really is a wonderful country and a fantastic place to call home. It was so pleasant coming back; Felt like “coming home” in many respects. I was immediately “hooked” again on arrival, and decided that China would be again in my future.

The first day back consisted primarily of hanging out with my best friend, Ricky…and drinking. We eventually rendezvoused with our Russian friend, Jack, and went clubbing. Arrived back to Ricky’s apartment after dawn, and Jack had separated from us at the club to return to his hotel.

I would end up staying awake for over 48 hours and retrieved some other mutual friends (Elric and Becca) from the airport while Ricky slept.

In the subsequent days we’d head north/north-west by train to Fùyáng for Ricky’s wedding.
